If ever a destination were geared around special events, it would be Provincetown, and this is especially true for gatherings, themed weeks and weekends, and other goings-on and gatherings geared to the LGBTQ community. But more events are expected to be added closer to the date of the event, so check the event calendar regularly.
So here’s to that! 2022 Provincetown Pride Weekend Highlightsįor the latest details about Provincetown Pride, check the official event calendar at the website of the LGBTQ Provincetown Business Guild, which is also a highly useful site for learning more about what to see and do in the area (and where to stay).Įxpect special “Pride Ferry” sailings from Boston on Friday (one early in the afternoon and another in the early evening), offered through Bay State Ferries-this 90-minute high-speed ride is one of the easiest and most relaxing ways to reach Provincetown, which on weekends entails an often long and traffic-choked 120-mile drive from Boston (it takes two hours with no traffic, but much longer when it’s busy).ĭuring the weekend itself, some events and activities to look forward to include a Pride Queer Comedy Showcase on Saturday, and a Feet Over Front Street 5K Pride Run & Walk and a Full Spectrum Community Beach BBQ at the renowned Crown & Anchor on Sunday.
Even better, Provincetown Pride takes place in mid-spring, just as the town is gearing up for its bustling summer season, but after Memorial Day weekend and well before the biggest crowds have arrived. And it makes even more sense for a town that hosts numerous LGBTQ theme weekends-Single Women’s Weekend in mid-May, Men of Color Weekend in late June, Bear Week in mid-July, Carnival in August, and many others. It’s appropriate that the town that developed into an artists colony in the 1910s, and simultaneously began to cultivate a following among lesbians and gays, is roughly a century later, hosting a Pride weekend. īut in 2018, this impossibly picturesque seaside hamlet at the tip of Cape Cod held its very first Pride weekend, and after postponing the event in recent years due to the pandemic, Provincetown Pride is back this year and slated to take place June 3-5, 2022.
